Top Preschool Franchises in India 2026: 8 Brands Scored on 7 Criteria

First, a disclosure. This guide is published by Little Ville, which also sells preschool franchises. So we set ourselves three rules: score brands only on what they publish, show exactly how we scored, and leave Little Ville out of the ranking. We appear in the table for completeness, and in a separate section where we answer the same questions.
Search "top 10 preschool franchise in India" and most lists rank brands without saying how, often on a brand's own blog. None we reviewed has a profit or break-even column, though that's what investors ask first.
This list is different:
- It's scored. Seven stated criteria, 1 to 5 each, out of 35.
- It's about disclosure. We score how clearly brands state their terms, not how good their classrooms are.
- It's 8 brands, not 10. These are the brands we could document properly. Padding to 10 would mean guessing.
The short version (score out of 35): Little Millennium 25 · Kidzee 23 · EuroKids 23 · Bachpan 23 · Footprints 22 · Podar Jumbo Kids 19 · Shemrock 16 · Kangaroo Kids 15.
What are the 7 criteria we scored on?
We scored each brand from 1 to 5 on seven things an investor needs before signing: investment, royalty, published break-even or ROI, area, agreement term and exit, support, and scale. Each carries equal weight. Brands earn points for clear, specific published information and lose them when a figure is missing.

| # | Criterion | What earns a higher score |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Investment disclosure | A specific range, ideally with what it includes |
| 2 | Royalty disclosure | A stated royalty % (or zero) and other recurring fees |
| 3 | Break-even / ROI published | Return and timeline figures, ideally with assumptions |
| 4 | Area requirement | A published size, flexible on floor or property type |
| 5 | Agreement term and exit | Term, renewal and exit or buyback terms stated upfront |
| 6 | Support breadth | Named support across setup, training, curriculum, marketing, tech |
| 7 | Scale and track record | Published centre count and years of operation |
How the 1 to 5 scale works:
- 5: on the brand's own page, specific and complete
- 4: on the brand's page and specific, but missing a key piece
- 3: partly published (vague or "starting from"), or reported only by third-party listings
- 2: loose, indirect or conflicting information only
- 1: not disclosed in anything we found
We score disclosure, not level. A ₹5 lakh franchise isn't better than a ₹30 lakh one, and a higher royalty can come with more support, so we show the numbers for your own maths. Ties are broken by the money criteria (1 to 3) added together.
Methodology note (17 October 2026): Figures are as published on each brand's franchise page, or reported by third-party franchise listings, in October 2026. Where sources disagree, we show the range and mark it "reported". Terms change often: verify every figure with the brand, in writing, before investing.
How do the top preschool franchises in India compare at a glance?
Little Millennium scored highest (25/35) because it publishes something on every criterion except royalty. Kidzee, EuroKids and Bachpan follow at 23. Most of the gap is about money: only two of the eight clearly publish return figures on their own franchise page.

What does each brand publish? The 8 profiles
Unless marked "reported" (third-party listings), figures are from each brand's own franchise page, October 2026.
1. Little Millennium: 25/35
Little Millennium publishes more of its franchise terms than any other brand here, including a return figure, a break-even window and an agreement term. Centres open about 45 days after onboarding. The ROI figure carries a variability disclaimer and no workings, so treat it as a starting point.
- Investment 4/5: ₹15–30 lakh depending on location and size.
- Royalty 1/5: no royalty figure found.
- Break-even/ROI 4/5: ~30–35% ROI a year; break-even 12–24 months (12–18 months in its how-to guide). No assumptions shown.
- Area 4/5: minimum 2,000 sq ft, ground floor.
- Agreement 4/5: 5-year initial term with performance-based renewal; exit terms not published.
- Support 4/5: continuous training, regional and academic teams, on-ground marketing managers, child kits.
- Scale 4/5: 900+ centres stated.
2. Kidzee: 23/35
Kidzee is the largest network on this list. Its page sets out a quick timeline: enquiry on Day 1, agreement around Day 22, operational by Day 45. Setup cost and space are clear; royalty, agreement terms and returns are discussed with its team rather than shown on the page.
- Investment 4/5: ₹15–16 lakh, a tight and specific range.
- Royalty 3/5: not on the page; third-party listings report 10–15%.
- Break-even/ROI 1/5: no revenue, profit or break-even figures.
- Area 4/5: 2,000–3,000 sq ft, ground floor, outdoor play preferred.
- Agreement 1/5: duration, renewal and exit not published.
- Support 5/5: centre design, curriculum, teacher training, digital marketing, school-management software.
- Scale 5/5: 2,500+ centres, 20+ years.
3. EuroKids: 23/35
EuroKids has city-level franchise pages for places like Bangalore, Pune and Chennai, and quotes 45–60 days to launch. Its 1,500 sq ft minimum, on a ground or first floor, is the most flexible space requirement published here. On returns, its page says ROI depends on location, size and enrolment.
- Investment 4/5: ₹15–20 lakh.
- Royalty 1/5: not disclosed.
- Break-even/ROI 1/5: no figure given.
- Area 5/5: minimum 1,500 sq ft, ground or first floor, residential areas.
- Agreement 2/5: terms "discussed during evaluation".
- Support 5/5: EDGE360 programme: infrastructure, Heureka curriculum, business portal, training, marketing, lead management.
- Scale 5/5: 2,000+ schools, 25+ years.
4. Bachpan: 23/35
Bachpan runs an NEP-aligned curriculum with add-ons such as robotics and smart classes, and expects about 10–12 staff per centre. Its support is set out clearly, and it publishes its agreement term. Returns and break-even are not published.
- Investment 3/5: "₹15+ lakh" on the page; ₹15–25 lakh reported.
- Royalty 1/5: not disclosed.
- Break-even/ROI 1/5: not disclosed.
- Area 4/5: minimum 2,000 sq ft, ground floor, commercial or residential.
- Agreement 4/5: 5-year term, renewable; exit terms not published.
- Support 5/5: four named areas: day-to-day, marketing, training, and setup (site visit, location analysis, interior design manual).
- Scale 5/5: 1,200+ preschools, 400+ cities, 21 years.
5. Footprints: 22/35 (managed-investor model)
Footprints works differently. It runs a managed, company-operated model: you invest, and the parent company handles operations, marketing, technology and hiring. Because returns are the pitch, it publishes more money figures than most, including the caveat that the first ~12 months yield no returns.
- Investment 4/5: ~₹70 lakh on its page; ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore by city and size, reported.
- Royalty 2/5: no figure; the brand's share sits inside the managed payout, which isn't itemised.
- Break-even/ROI 4/5: 17–18% average IRR and ₹1.16–1.66 lakh a month stated; no checkable projections.
- Area 1/5: not disclosed.
- Agreement 5/5: 9-year tenure, structured buyback option, escrow-based payouts.
- Support 5/5: fully managed operations, marketing, technology, HR and investor dashboards.
- Scale 1/5: not stated in the franchise material we reviewed.
6. Podar Jumbo Kids: 19/35
Podar Jumbo Kids is backed by the Podar education group and runs a neighbourhood-centre model with a focus on CCTV and safety. Its figures appear on its own pages and third-party listings, and we couldn't always separate the two, so we mark them "reported".
- Investment 3/5: ₹5–10 lakh reported; ~₹8–8.5 lakh project cost including franchise fee and centre kit.
- Royalty 3/5: ~20% reported, the upper end of the market range; brand fee ~₹2 lakh.
- Break-even/ROI 2/5: "up to 200% ROI" claimed; payback figures vary by source (one lists ~5 years).
- Area 3/5: 1,500–2,000 sq ft, reported.
- Agreement 3/5: 5 years, renewable, reported.
- Support 2/5: centre kit and safety focus named; no detailed support list found.
- Scale 3/5: group heritage since 1927; preschool centre count not found.
7. Shemrock: 16/35
Shemrock has the lowest published entry point of the eight. Its most distinctive offer is a direct admission tie-up with Shemford schools, so children can continue into K-12. It offers several formats, including daycare, and a clear five-step process from enquiry to launch.
- Investment 3/5: "starting from ₹3–7 lakh" on its page; ₹6–12 lakh all-in reported.
- Royalty 1/5: not disclosed (a brand fee of ~₹2 lakh is reported).
- Break-even/ROI 1/5: "fast break-even" language, no figures.
- Area 3/5: not on the page; ~1,000–1,500 sq ft reported.
- Agreement 1/5: term not published.
- Support 3/5: "100% lifetime franchise support", training, admissions and marketing help, Shemford tie-up.
- Scale 4/5: 650+ branches, 4.5 lakh alumni.
8. Kangaroo Kids: 15/35
Kangaroo Kids is the premium option here, operating in India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Maldives. Most of its cost and return detail is published by third-party franchise portals rather than its own site, which caps its money scores at 3. Ask the brand to confirm each number in writing.
- Investment 3/5: ₹30–50 lakh total reported, including a franchise fee of ~₹12–15 lakh.
- Royalty 1/5: not disclosed.
- Break-even/ROI 3/5: 30–40% ROI and 12–18 months, reported.
- Area 3/5: 2,500–3,000 sq ft, reported.
- Agreement 1/5: not disclosed.
- Support 1/5: no published support list found.
- Scale 3/5: since 1993, five countries; centre count not found.
Where does Little Ville fit? (We're biased, so check us too)
Little Ville is a Bengaluru preschool brand with a zero-royalty franchise model. We haven't scored ourselves because we can't be neutral about our own brand. Here's what we publish, and what we don't yet.
What our franchise page states (October 2026, all):
- Investment: ₹15–25 lakh
- Royalty: zero
- Break-even: 18–24 months on average
- Area: 2,000–3,500 sq ft carpet, ground floor, outdoor play space preferred
- Curriculum: IGNITE™, NCF-aligned and built in-house
- Support: centre design, teacher training, proprietary kits, admission app with CRM, HQ-run digital marketing
- Since 2008, Bengaluru HQ; franchise team responds within 24 hours
Where we'd lose points on our own rubric: our agreement term and exit terms aren't on our franchise page yet, and our break-even figure doesn't show its assumptions. Ask us for both.
Why zero royalty matters in rupees: in our illustrative model centre (expected case, ₹18 lakh setup), a 12% royalty adds up to about ₹24.3 lakh over five years, more than the setup itself. Full payback moves from around month 36 with zero royalty to month 48 at 12%. See the workings in our zero-royalty explainer and preschool franchise profitability guide.
Put every question in the checklist below to us. If we can't answer clearly, mark us down.
Does a high score mean a better preschool?
No. This scorecard measures how openly a brand shares its franchise terms. It says nothing about teaching quality or how children feel in the classroom. A brand can score low here and still run excellent centres. Use the score to decide whom to question harder, not whom to trust.
To judge quality, visit two or three running centres per shortlisted brand, watch a class if allowed, and talk to parents at pick-up time.
How do you pick the right preschool franchise for your budget?
Start with your total budget, not the brand's headline figure: include the rent deposit and a working-capital reserve (₹4–5 lakh in our model) for the slow early months. Then match it to a band below. Within each band, compare royalty before brand name.
Under ₹10 lakh. Shemrock (from ₹3–7 lakh on its page) and Podar Jumbo Kids (₹5–10 lakh reported). Ask what the figure excludes: rent deposit, fit-out overruns and working capital often aren't in "starting from" prices. Our preschool franchise cost guide lists what to add.
₹10–25 lakh. The busiest band: Kidzee (₹15–16 lakh), EuroKids (₹15–20 lakh), Bachpan (₹15 lakh+), Little Millennium (₹15–30 lakh) and Little Ville (₹15–25 lakh). Setup costs are close, so compare royalty and agreement terms. Over five years, royalty can cost more than the centre itself.
₹25 lakh and above. Kangaroo Kids (₹30–50 lakh reported) and the top of Little Millennium's range. Premium positioning needs a catchment that can pay premium fees, so check local fee levels first.
Managed-investor model. Footprints (~₹70 lakh) suits someone who wants to finance a centre, not run one. Read the buyback and escrow terms, ask what happens if returns miss the published IRR, and plan for no income in year one.
What should you ask any franchisor before signing?
Ask for every answer in writing. These seven questions cover most of what franchise pages leave out, for every brand here, including ours.
- What is the royalty, and what other recurring fees apply (marketing fund, software, kit renewals)?
- What does the investment figure exclude: rent deposit, GST, working capital?
- Is your break-even figure the first profitable month, or full payback of my investment? What enrolment, fee and rent does it assume?
- What is the agreement term, what does renewal cost, and how do exit and termination work?
- Do I get an exclusive territory, and how big is it?
- Can I speak to three franchisees I choose, including one who opened in the last two years?
- How many centres closed or changed hands in the last three years?
Question 3 matters most: break-even (first profitable month) and payback (investment recovered) can be years apart.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the best preschool franchise in India?+
There's no single best preschool franchise in India; it depends on your budget, city and how hands-on you want to be. On disclosure, Little Millennium scored highest in our 2026 review (25/35). EuroKids publishes the most flexible space requirement, and Footprints suits hands-off investors. Shortlist by budget, then compare royalty.
What are the top 10 preschool franchises in India in 2026?+
We scored 8 rather than padding to 10: Little Millennium, Kidzee, EuroKids, Bachpan, Footprints, Podar Jumbo Kids, Shemrock and Kangaroo Kids. These are the brands we could document properly in October 2026. Any "top 10" list should explain how it ranked; if it doesn't, ask.
What is the royalty fee for a preschool franchise in India?+
Royalty ranges from zero to about 20% of revenue across the market, but most brands don't publish theirs. Third-party listings report 10–15% for Kidzee and ~20% for Podar Jumbo Kids. Little Ville runs a zero-royalty model. At 12%, our model centre pays about ₹24.3 lakh in royalty over five years.
How long does a preschool franchise take to break even?+
Published claims run from 12 to 24 months (Little Millennium 12–24; Kangaroo Kids 12–18, reported). But break-even usually means the first profitable month, not recovering your investment. In our expected-case model, full payback takes about 36 months with zero royalty and 48 months at 12% royalty.
What is the lowest-investment preschool franchise in India?+
Of the eight brands we reviewed, Shemrock has the lowest published entry point ("starting from ₹3–7 lakh"; ₹6–12 lakh all-in reported). Podar Jumbo Kids is reported at ₹5–10 lakh. Check what these figures exclude, especially rent deposit and working capital.
How much space do you need for a preschool franchise?+
Most brands we reviewed ask for 1,500–3,000 sq ft, usually on the ground floor. EuroKids publishes a 1,500 sq ft minimum (ground or first floor); Kidzee 2,000–3,000 sq ft; Bachpan and Little Millennium a 2,000 sq ft minimum; Little Ville 2,000–3,500 sq ft. Shemrock is reported at ~1,000–1,500 sq ft.
